Staff Changes for 2018

Holy Trinity Staff Changes for 2018

2018 brings some unexpected changes in roles for staff at Holy Trinity Jesmond. As part of a wider re-shuffle, Bishop Christine has asked the Vicar, Mark Wroe, to cover the role of the Archdeacon of Northumberland, while the existing Archdeacon Geoff Miller is acting-Dean of Newcastle Cathedral. This arrangement will continue until a new Cathedral Dean is appointed and is likely to be for 9-12 months. Mark’s appointment will be a full-time, though temporary position, and he will still officially remain Vicar of Holy Trinity Jesmond.

However, while Mark is acting-Archdeacon of Northumberland, Bishop Christine has asked Tim Sanderson, the Associate Minister, to become acting-Vicar of Holy Trinity Jesmond, taking on the day to day leadership within the church, supported by the staff, wardens and PCC. Mark comments ‘It is fair to say that both Tim and I are surprised by these opportunities but willing to undertake these new roles and have a sense of God’s hand upon all of us’.

These new roles commence on the 8th January 2018, from which point the Diocese will take responsibility for providing Tim’s stipend for as long as necessary. There are a lot of other practicalities that still need to be tied down, not least how some of the Associate Minister’s current role is covered. We will be working hard together with the Bishop and our PCC to ensure these are addressed as soon as possible in the coming weeks.

Bishop Christine comments ‘I am truly thankful for the way in which Mark and Tim have been so willing to help during the vacancy and I ask that you pray for them and support them in the coming months in their interim ministries’.
